Terms of Service
Version 1.1 · Last updated: 4 October 2026
These are the rules for playing The Visors: Skin Deep and for having an account in it. Plain English, and short enough to actually read.
THE SHORT VERSION
You have to be an adult. An account is a username and a password; an email address is optional, and without one a forgotten password means the account is gone for good. Nothing in the game is for sale. Newer versions of the game open first to accounts with early access, which comes with the Early Supporter tier on SubscribeStar or as a gift from us; crypto contributions are gifts. Do not attack the service or resell the game, and we will not close your account without giving you a reason, unless the law leaves us no choice.
01 · WHO YOU ARE AGREEING WITH
The Visors: Skin Deep is an independent game project, run by one person. These Terms are an agreement between you and the person who runs it. We do not publish a formal legal name — the same decision the Privacy Policy records for the data controller — and [email protected] reaches that person directly. Below, "we" and "us" mean this project.
02 · ADULTS ONLY
This is an adult game: you must be 18 or older, or older still where the age of majority is higher. Creating an account means you confirm that, and we keep a record of the confirmation (§11). If you are below that age you may not use the game, and that is not something we can waive for you. Each time you start a session, the game shows a content notice and asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older. Confirming it is your own statement that you are. If someone else uses your device, they must confirm it themselves — and if they are under 18, they must not use the game at all. Keep the game away from minors and sign out on shared devices. Making sure that playing is lawful where you are is your responsibility. The Adults Only statement describes what the adult content actually is.
Read the full content statement03 · YOUR ACCOUNT
An account is a username and a password, and nothing else is required. Keep the password: it is the only thing that proves the account is yours, and whatever is done through the account counts as done by you. Do not share it, do not hand the account to somebody else, and do not create an account on behalf of a person who could not create one themselves. Usernames have to fit the rules the registration screen states — a length and a character set — and, beyond those, some names are kept for the project and for the cast of the story. We do not publish that list, so the screen tells you a name is unavailable rather than why; pick another. A name taken to impersonate the project, its author or its characters can be reclaimed.
04 · NO EMAIL, NO RECOVERY
An email address is optional. Leave it out and the account stays anonymous — we have no idea who you are, which is the point. It costs you one thing, and we would rather say it too loudly than too quietly: with no address on the account, there is no way to reset a forgotten password, and no way for us to prove the account is yours. Lose the password and the account is gone. Not locked, not restorable by writing to us, not recoverable at all — the story, the progress and the name go with it. Write the password down somewhere safe. The same fact cuts the other way while you still have the password: it is the one thing that shows the account is yours, which is why a request about an anonymous account — a deletion, say — takes a few questions before we can act on it (Privacy Policy §6). You can attach an address later from account settings, and change it there; either way it starts protecting the account only once you follow the link we send to it, so until you do, everything above still applies.
05 · HOW YOU MAY USE THE GAME
Play it, for yourself. Do not automate or script your way through it, do not try to reach parts of the game you were not given, do not resell, redistribute or re-host the game or its artwork, do not use it to break the law where you are, and do not attack the service — floods of traffic, guessing passwords in bulk, probing for holes. If you find a hole, write to [email protected] instead of using it; we would rather owe you a thank-you.
06 · SUSPENSION AND CLOSING AN ACCOUNT
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, that is used to attack or abuse the service or other players, that we are required by law to close, or that we have good reason to believe belongs to somebody under 18. Where that is our own decision rather than a legal requirement, you can ask what happened and we will tell you — an account closed without a word is bad manners, not a security measure. You can stop at any time: nothing renews and nothing is owed. You can also ask us to delete the account outright; the Privacy Policy describes how that request works today and exactly what goes with it.
How deletion works07 · WHAT WE DO NOT PROMISE
The game is in development and is offered as it is. Chapters, characters, mechanics and balance will change; saved progress may be reset while the story is still being built, and we will say so in advance whenever we know in advance. We do not promise that the service is available at any particular moment, that it is free of faults, or that it suits a purpose you have in mind. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — lost time, lost progress, lost data. What the law does not allow us to disclaim, we do not: nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer, and nothing here limits liability for intent, gross negligence, or personal injury.
08 · PAYING AND SUPPORTING
The game itself sells nothing: there are no in-game purchases and no in-game currency, and no payment details are asked for or stored anywhere in it. You can support the project in two ways outside the game. The Early Supporter tier is a monthly subscription on SubscribeStar: SubscribeStar sells it, bills it and handles cancellation under its own terms, and the tier page lists what it includes. Inside the game, it gives early access: newer versions of the game open first to accounts that have it, before any public release. Early access belongs to a game account, and for now we open it by hand, so allow us a little time: send us your username, in a message on SubscribeStar or to the address in §12, and we open early access for the period your subscription is paid for. When that period ends, early access closes, and the early version of the game closes with it, including any playthrough you started in it. If an account is suspended or closed (§06), its early access ends with it; the subscription itself stays SubscribeStar's to cancel or refund under its own terms. We may also open early access at our own discretion, for example as a thank-you; that is a gift, not a purchase. Crypto contributions through the support section of the public site are gifts toward production, not purchases: nothing is sold, nothing is guaranteed in return, and they are non-refundable. If paid features ever arrive inside the game, their terms (what is charged, when, how it renews, how it is cancelled, and what happens to what you paid for if an account is closed) will be written here first, and apply to a purchase only once they are on this page, with the version at the top changed to say so.
09 · WHO OWNS WHAT
The game — its story, text, characters, artwork, music, code and the name The Visors — belongs to the project. An account gives you a personal, non-transferable permission to play, and nothing beyond that: it is not a sale, and it does not carry the right to redistribute, re-host, mirror or sell any part of the game. Screenshots, clips and streams of your own play are welcome, provided you do not present the work as your own and you respect the adult-content rules of wherever you post them. The artwork is produced with an AI-assisted pipeline under human art direction; the Adults Only statement says more about that.
10 · GOVERNING LAW
This document does not nominate a governing law or a court, and does not pretend otherwise: we do not publish the country the project is operated from, for the same reason we do not publish a legal name (§01). Two things hold regardless. The consumer protections of the country you live in apply to you whatever this page says, and nothing here stops you from bringing a matter before a court that is competent for you. If that changes — when paid features arrive, most likely, and a legal entity is published with them — the choice will be named here and the version at the top will change with it.
11 · VERSIONS, AND WHAT YOU ACCEPTED
This document has a version number, printed at the top together with the date it last changed. Creating an account records which version of these Terms, of the Privacy Policy and of the age confirmation you accepted, when, and the IP address the request reached us from — the version and the moment are what make an acceptance provable, and the Privacy Policy explains how long the record is kept. When one of the three changes in a way that changes what you agreed to, its version changes with it and we ask you to accept the new one. Carrying on playing is never treated as acceptance of a version you were never shown.
12 · QUESTIONS
Anything about these Terms, or about a decision we made on an account: [email protected]. It reaches the person who makes the game.
